Land Clearing & Grading

We clear overgrown lots down to bare, level ground and grade it so water moves the way it's supposed to, not the way sandy Florida dirt happens to settle.

Land Clearing & Grading in Flagler County

Built for Florida Ground, Not a Generic Job Site

A lot of the land-clearing calls we get around Palm Coast and Flagler County come from the same situation: a property sat untouched for five, ten, sometimes twenty years and grew into a wall of palmetto, scrub oak, and volunteer pines thick enough that you can't walk it, let alone build on it. We bring dozers, excavators, and mulching heads sized for that kind of density, knock it down, and pull the stumps and root balls out instead of just cutting to grade level. That last part matters more here than in most places. Florida's sandy soil doesn't hold a stump or a root mat in place the way clay does, so a lot that looks clean on top can settle unevenly a year or two later once those roots rot out underground. We take them out the first time so you're not paying to fix a sunken patch of yard down the road.

Leveling and top-dressing is the other half of most clearing jobs. Raw Florida lots are rarely flat once you strip the vegetation off them: old irrigation ditches, buried debris, low spots that used to hide under brush all show up. We regrade the site so it's actually buildable, whether that means prepping a pad for a new home, a pole barn, sod, or just a usable backyard again. On backyard regrading specifically, most of our calls come from homeowners whose yard slopes toward the house instead of away from it, usually because of fill added during a past project or just decades of settling. We reshape the grade so water runs off toward the street or a swale instead of pooling against your foundation.

Forestry fire mitigation is a smaller piece of the work but a real one, especially for rural Flagler County properties backed up to wooded state land. We thin out dense brush and low-hanging vegetation around structures to create defensible space, which matters most in the dry stretch from February through May before summer rain returns and drought risk drops. HOA communities also call us for this on common-area lots that have gone unmanaged and become a liability for everyone nearby.

Every clearing and grading job we run accounts for the water table. Dig or grade wrong here and you either create a low spot that never drains or push your drainage problem onto the neighbor's lot. We plan the finished grade with where the water needs to go before we ever start moving dirt.

Common Questions

Land Clearing & Grading FAQ

Do you remove stumps and roots, or just cut down trees and brush?

We clear it all: trees, brush, palmetto, and full stump and root removal, not just cutting to grade. Leaving roots behind in Florida's sandy soil causes settling and pooling later, so we pull them the first time.

Can you clear a lot that's been overgrown for years?

Yes. That's most of what we do around Flagler County: lots that sat vacant for years and grew into dense palmetto and scrub oak. We bring the equipment to knock it down fast and haul off or burn debris on-site where permitted.

Do you do forestry fire mitigation and defensible space clearing?

Yes. We thin brush and vegetation around homes and property lines to reduce wildfire risk, which matters most during our dry spring months before the summer rains start.
