A New Lawn Is Only as Good as the Ground It's Laid On
Most sod jobs we get called for aren't actually sod problems, they're grading problems wearing a green disguise. A homeowner lays fresh sod over an unlevel or poorly draining yard, and within a season the same low spot that pooled water before is pooling water again, just under new grass instead of bare dirt. We don't skip that step. Before any pallet of sod goes down, we regrade and level the yard so it actually sheds water correctly, then lay sod on ground that's going to hold its shape rather than settle unevenly the way loose, ungraded sandy soil does.
New construction lots are a common source of this work. A lot of new Palm Coast homes get handed over with a yard that's really just compacted fill and builder's sand, no topsoil, no real grade. We bring in fill and topsoil where it's needed, shape the final grade, and install sod on top of a foundation that's actually built to support a lawn rather than just cover dirt.
Full yard renovations cover the bigger jobs: a property that's been neglected, damaged by construction equipment from another project, or just needs to be rebuilt from the ground up after years of drainage issues finally got addressed. That usually means regrading, fill work, drainage tie-ins where needed, and landscape bed prep before the final sod or planting goes in. We handle it start to finish instead of handing you off between separate landscaping and grading crews.
Timing matters too. We generally recommend getting sod down either right before or early in the rainy season so root establishment gets a head start from natural rainfall, rather than fighting the Florida sun on a yard that's still trying to knit itself together. We'll walk you through the right timing for your specific project.

Common Questions
Sod & Lawn Renovation FAQ
What kind of sod do you install, and does it hold up in Florida heat?
We deliver and install sod varieties suited to this climate and your specific yard conditions, sun versus shade and drainage included. The bigger factor in whether sod holds up long-term isn't the variety, it's whether the grade underneath was done right before it went down.
Do you grade the yard before laying sod, or just roll it out?
We grade first. Rolling sod out over an ungraded yard just locks in whatever drainage or low-spot problems were already there. We regrade and level the ground so the finished lawn is even and actually sheds water correctly.
Can you do a full yard renovation, not just sod?
Yes. Full yard renovations are a core part of what we do, from regrading and fill work through landscape bed prep to a finished lawn ready for sod or planting.
